There was a 4.9( I think it was) reported in Costa Rica today....That would be a hundred times worse than the little one I felt here two nights ago...WOW

Richter caculations
3 on the Richter scale process an energy release of the equivolent of 480 kg of TnT

4 on the Richter scale process an energy release of the equivolent of 15 metric tons of TnT

5 on the Richter scale process an energy release of the equivolent of 480 metric tons of TnT

6 on the Richter scale process an energy release of the equivolent of 15 metric kilotons of TnT

7 on the Richter scale process an enery of the equivolent of 480 metric kilotons of TnT

Just to show how each increase of 1 on the scale increases the energy released.

Todays 3.3 is an equivalent energy Release of 1.3 metric tons of TnT
so you can see the 7.0 in Japan was approximately 36933 times as strong
