I am trying to book flights for myself and my 3 dogs to leave DR in the next week or so to go to Canada.
I am going around in circles as I can't get a straight answer from anyone. Speak to 3 different people and you get 3 answers.
I was told Continental carry dogs all year in cargo as unaccompanied animals, then I was told by Continental in POP that I can only take one dog, and didn't know anything about unaccompanied dogs.
PLEASE, if anyone knows how I can leave this island asap PLEASE tell me.
I REALLY need to go home (Australia) and I don't know who to ask or where to go.
Does anyone know if the ferry that goes to Puerto Rico will allow you to take animals and could I go to Canada from there with my dogs ?
Can anyone suggest any alternative ways of getting my dogs and me to Canada without it being ridiculously expensive ?
I would be grateful for ANY and all advice.

What size are the dogs?

Yes, the airlines impose an embargo during certain months....
I have 1 dog trapped in RD right now.

Its a difficult process

I had no luck with Continental at POP.... SDQ is more knowledgable
I'll try to find my contacts there...

I know this..... the cost to Newark was $350 - 1 way.

Continental will not fly directly to Canada....it will be through Newark or Houston

WestJet embargo is May1 to Oct 31..... thats how my dog got stranded in RD.
I missed the May 1 deadline.
Air Canada limits the total weight (dog+kennel) to 70lbs - strictly enforced they say.
