The restoration of the old fort 'San Felipe' at the entrance of the harbor of Puerto Plata is now finished.

They gave the old iron cannons in deplorable state a face lift. The guns look so real now that the Deputy Tourism Minister C?sar Jos? de los Santos, came up with the excellent idea to make the cannons a special attraction for the tourists. His proposal is that the guns are fired every afternoon. But also if a cruise ship enters the port, the ship should be welcomed with cannon salutes. The minister thinks that this cannon salutes will make Puerto Plata more attractive for tourism.
