HELP!!!......Santo Domingo to Punta Cana

This may have been asked here before but is there a bus that goes between Santo Domingo and Punta Cana? (Expreso Bavaro??) I am a new member and I am leaving tomorrow for Punta Cana via Santo Domingo (SDQ).
We are staying in the Palace Resorts Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. If so I need some information on how to get to the bus station from the Santo Domingo (SDQ) airport. Is there also a possibility of renting a car and just driving myself to Punta Cana (Airport to Airport) since the resort will pick me up from the Punta Cana Airport? I know I should have made my flight to Punta Cana but ......

You could just get a taxi all the way to your hotel from SDQ for 5,000pesos. I always feel after a flight it is worth the money just to get to the hotel hassle free, in comfort without sussing out coaches and changing bags from airport to taxi to coach to taxi and hanging around.
Someone else will tell you coach times.

Is that price the same for 2 people? I know that sounds like a dumb question but I've seen somewhere in a forum that one of the taxi services does not have storage space so it's either on your lap or pay for an extra seat.

Yes, you will have to call a driver from Apolo to collect you, I have a direct number of a guy who might even do it cheaper for you if you like, he is an Apolo driver but if he avoids the control, then he can save a little so he might, defo no more than 5000pesos, airport to hotel reception. The price is for the car, not per person.

Absolutely forget renting a car! This road is a tough one for "newbies" and even for some "oldies".
That cab for only RD$ 5,000 sounds the best, although RD$ 5,000 is kind of cheap for this trip.

If you can get it for 5,000 rd you are doing well. Normally they charge $200 US.

One more thing for you. Make sure you do not get a room on the first floor. Ask for the 3rd or 4th floor at the Hotel. Bldg. 4 or 5 is closer to the action, 4A is closest to the beach and B is closest to the lobby and Casino. Same for bldg.5.

Normally who? If you get an Anacaona driver it is RD$5,500 and Apolo drivers are cheaper now at RD$5,000. They do Jarabacoa from the airport at RD$3,500, which is also pretty good. You need the direct numbers to the drivers so they can avoid control, but that is where residents are supposed to be so helpful, no.

Read my post. I said if you can get it for 5,000rd you are doing good. You have a problem with this????

OMG what a salty response. I asked a question about who you pay 50% more to and what, you take issue?
If you are going to quote a price I thought you may have known who with so people can avoid them, they are expensive.
I didn't realize this could be a touchy subject, forget I asked.

I have to agree with SKY. You posted a fare that was quite a bit less than we have seen in the past. Usually about $200 is the fare we have seen from SDQ to Punta Cana. You say it can be done for RD$5000. Please post the particulars, including contact info.

Some of you guys need to get a grip with the facts this board is not the entire life and soul of what happens and goes on in the country. There is a life without the assistance of DR1 and the few regulars that mouch the boards.
Well there is a number, if you want to use him, tell him this is what you will offer and he will do it. Unless you come across with the same salty attitude as some on here, then he will probably tell you to sod off, and rightly so. Happy travels!!

My son and two business associates are arriving SDQ next week and need to get to Punta Cana. Gave him the info. Let you know how he makes out.
