Hi,

some friends and me are going to Boca Chica and me for fortnight in March. We would like to check out Santo Domingo Nightlife. Can u recommend some busy and (rather on the safe side) nightclubs that play the typical dominican music (Bachata, Merengue, Salsa)? We are all in our early 30's. Thanks for your help in advance

I dont think Boca Chica is the place you want to go for nightlife. There is not much going on there. mostly people looking for streewalkers..if you want to do some local partying in Boca Chica and Andres..you can but not too safe if you dont know your way around.. If you want to go to dinner in Boca Chica..then check out Boca Marina and hit casino at the hamaca. If you are looking for some nice clubs and restaurants then you should stay in the Capital...that is where all the action is... get some advice from some other people on the forum as well.. good luck

jfitz doesn
t understand your question,or Boca Chica!
I,know you are going to Boca Chica for the beach.
You want to come to Santo Domingo for some "Club'n.I am a "Old Fart",many years removed from the current SD "scene"!
It used to be the "Merengue Bar" at the Hotel Haragua.Totally safe there.Right in the lobby with their HUGE casino.
Email,Everythingjeff, he's here on DR1 someplace.
He is the go to guy for SD nightscene.
Be aware, getting to SD from BC is expensive, and can be dangerous at 2 am.
Taxis charge more, and the highway is dangerous.
Be sure you have a garanteed price to go,and return.
Hotel taxis are the most expensive, but safest as well.
I think you will love Boca Chica. They close of a street at night, and everyone goes wild.
Just don't do anythig here you wouldn't do "at home"!
To a Dominican man,"NO!",means "YES"!CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC

Thanks for your replies guys.

To clear up some misunderstandings, I was asking about Nightlife in Santo Domingo, I know there is not much in Boca Chica.

Thanks for the information about expensive taxis, its probably best to stay overnight in Santo Domingo then to avoid a dangerous journey home. And I me and my female friend will gonna be with some black american friends so I guess we will attract less attention and keep the sankies away ;-)

I would suggest getting a centrally located hotel room for the night when you travel to Santo Domingo for the night life. You really don't want to have to travel too far at 3 in the morning. Read through the link. There's lots of things to do in Santo Domingo and the city was built for a party. If you're there around Independence Day (27 Feb) you will definitely want to spend the day before and the day of in the Capital.

My first trip ever started on a Feb 26. I remember thinking on the way downtown from the airport "gee, these people sure love their kites". It was two days of steady jump-up. By the time my 8 day trip was over I needed a couple more days off to stave off exhaustion (and detox).

Have fun

I agree with Kyle, if all you are doing in Boca Chica is beaches then you do not need to stay there. If it is beaches you want I suggest you go to Juan Dolio since it is cleaner and less noisy than BC. At least you can enjoy your days at the beach and then come back to Santo Domingo to enjoy the nightlife. You will find plenty of places in SD to party and dance the night away, many posters here have already given some good suggestions. I personally like to hang out on an avenue called VENEZUELA. There are an abundance of nightclubs there to pick from. It is on the east side of Santo Domingo [short distance from the center of the capital] and you'll have to most likely cross the bridge to get there [depending on where you are staying] but it is not too far or hard to get to. Have fun but most of all be safe, SD can be a crazy and dangerous place late at night but just be smart and keep your eyes open, you'll be just fine. :)

Thank you very much for all your advice..I think that is what we will do come to Santo Domingo overnight and check out La Zona Colonial and the Venezuela Avenue.

I am not sure if we will stay in Juan Dolio or Boca Chica, depends on a couple of factors.
