What is the most reliable internet service in Santiago? and is it available in most parts of the city?

Does anybody use or have any experience to share about Claro's fiber optics plan?

I was supposed to have already moved to Santiago in early March, but I'm waiting for my office to be ready at the zona-franca. Apparently we're having trouble getting a good/relaible internet for a feasible price.

Santiago DR
Maybe I've been very lucky with Claro........
Been using there internet service for over 2 years now in Santiago with almost never a problem. I pay for 1.5 kbps and it has always been steady. Just had their tv service installed with the High Definition pkg and it kept freezing up on me. When I went to their office on Calle Del Solle, they fixed the problem the same day. They increased my download speed to about 275 kbps FREE OF CHARGE, and now the High Def. is ALMOST perfect. Plus the downloads on the Internet are much faster.

Originally had Tricom and it was terrible.....As far as fiber optics, what belgiank said ?????

All in all, Codetel is overall the best in the DR. Claro is the cell company owned by Codetel.

"Best" here does not equal "average" where you came from. The other ISP's are overall worse.

There is fiber here, but not for consumers. And for business, it's very, very costly. My wife's nephew is a supervisor engineer in that department.

$700 is for 100 mbps / 5 mbps... but if you can get 10 mbps, claro tv, local land line & cellphone minutes for around $150 seems fair

Since I won't be living in Santo Domingo fiber optics is not an option and as far as living in Santiago Codetel/Claro is the best choice.
Thanks for all the help.
