I'm currently getting my Visa through the Dominican Consulate in NYC and the lady at the consulate told me about a new law that says I have to get my birth certificate and Letter of Good Conduct stamped through some legal institution (I can't remember what exactly). I don't think this is quite the same as being notarized but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of what this means exactly. She said that the consulate could do it for me but it would cost US$80 per document, and that it should cost a lot less and only take about 4 days max if I get it done on my own. I'm trying to avoid the extra expenses but can anyone direct me where I need to go? This must be a rather new law because it was not in implementation two years ago when I obtained my student Visa.
Thanks so much!
