Hello everyone,

I wanted to start by saying thank you to you all for running a great forum. Me, my wife and our child just moved down from New York and I have enjoyed much reading up on various things here. You guys are great for sharing!

We are originally Swedish and will stay in Punta Cana for at least a year, I hope to be able to give back to this forum.

Cheers
Sam

HA! Close enough - vaelkommen is the real thing - but thanks! Btw I did bring in some cheese from Sweden when I arrived the other day and when stopped in the Aduana, the woman looked angrily at me saying "no no, you cant bring that it in, not allowed". I smiled and said, no problem, I am so sorry, please just throw it away. After repeating no no a couple of more times, looking at my as I was a child up to no good, she put it back in the bag and said "no problem but it is not allowed". I left feeling a little confused but thankful!

You will be "Confused" a lot here!
Do you have any cheese left????
The only good cheese here is imported, and very expensive.
Did you bring any "Herring in cream"??????
I would kill for some.

You are a brave man trying that stuff not being Swedish! Have you been to a Swedish midsummers party perhaps? That herring sure taste great when chased down by a snaps at 2am at summer solstice in the Stockholm archipelago...

I spent some time in Denmark.
I worked with a lot of Danish Doctors who told me about "Mid Summer's Nights"!
I once cooked a ham dinner for them.
After the ham, one asked me to marry him!
And he wasn't even "GAY"!
I do like "schnaps"!
It's Smooooooooooooth!
I also like the big breakfasts, including the fish!
Not bad for a "Farm Boy" from the Midwest.
