Land and Construction in Dominican Republic.

Hello all. i have just joined DR1. My name is Kauven, and i live in Turks & Caicos Islands, which is approx, 100 miles to the north of Dominican republic. i am making plans to retire in DR one day. but for now, i am looking to purchase about 2 acres of land, between Sosua, and Puerto plata, to construct a home. can someone please give me an idea, on cost of land, and the cost of construction, using local skilled laborers. and cost of construction material if available.

Turks & Caicos is not that bad. It is just that after living, and working here all my life, i feel the need for a change, when it is time to retire. and it is better to build now, while i have a good job, then to wait until later.

Price of land varies greatly based on exact location. We can be talking beachfront or in some campo in Puerto Plata. Big difference!
