Banco Popular closing Business Accounts without notice

Banco popular has shut down our business accounts (colchester group S.R.L.), without notice, the accounts have been active for 2 years, and Our Bank Rep. Amarfi Beato who we could not get a hold of for over 3 months before the incident, claims she could not reach us. We have called the bank numerous times and we have even contacted them via twitter, which finally got us a response. According to Amarfi Beato the account was shut down due to our business type (Call Center) is not inline with their business policies and she also stated she could not reach us through our contact numbers.

I am posting on this foum to get legal advice, is it possible for a bank to shut down an account due to the negligence of the bank account rep. Amarfi Beato (La Vega Branch) who failed to get back to us when we contacted her numerous times before the fact.

Espa?ol: Nuestras cuentas de Banco de el Banco Popular han sido cerradas sin notificaci?n (colchester group S.R.L.) nuestras cuentas estaban activas por 24 meses, y nuestra representante de Banco Amarfi Beato nunca regresaba nuestras llamadas ni correos electr?nicos antes de que cerraran la cuenta , nos est?bamos comunicando con la Sra. Beato para actualizar la empresa, debido a esta falta de comunicaci?n por su parte la Sra. Beato alerto a el departamento de inteligencia informando de falta de comunicaci?n, Al no lograr comunicarnos con nuestra oficial de cuenta decidimos comunicarnos con la cuenta de Popular en twitter que por fin logro ponernos en contacto con Amarfi Beato (Surcursal La Vega), La Sra. Beato nos informo que la cuenta fue cerrada por que el negocio de nosotros,que no esta en conforme con su lineas aceptable de negocios (nuestro negocio es un Call Center), tambi?n dice que tiene dificultad en comunicarse por los tel?fonos registrados.

Estamos pidiendo consejo legal por v?a de este foro para ver si esta Falta de comunicaci?n por parte de nuestra oficial de cuenta les permite cerrar nuestras cuentas sin notificaci?n.

Your key of the sucess is if you have record of your calls, when you do it and the time, and if you contact her thru their hotline they record all the conversations, first thing you have to do is to make a reclamtion over their customer service number, and if you do not get a satisfactory answer you may contact with ABA that is bank Asociation they have a department to help customers when something like that happend.

Update: I am not sure if this posting had anything to do with it , However the good news is the (La Vega Branch) Bank Manager Justina Valdez contacted us via email and has agreed to reopen our accounts so we can withdraw the funds that were there. The bad news is; they do not seem to want the account to remain open ,which is unfortunate, the have not yet given a valid reason for wanting to close it. We will keep all of you posted via this forum and thanks for the support.

Yes you have options about it, but at the end of the case it will not be worth the time and money just to end up with the same action (the account closed by the bank).

You can file a claim in the court, eve win a minor punitive pay-back, but the end result is that they can close it.


They DID however fail to contact you (seems like a railroaded closing), but that's very little when it comes to what you can get in monetary compensation.
