17th North Coast Jazz Festival

The Jazz festival starts this year on Thursday October 31 at the Town Hall Square (Parque Independencia) of Puerto Plata. For this start a long tradition of the jazz festival is partially reinstated.

Previously Puerto Plata and Santiago participated in the jazz festival. After some years of absence Puerto Plata starts to participate again this year.

The next day Friday November 1, the festival then continues in Sos?a in the Parque Mirador. Sos?a is, as will be known, focusing more on organizing cultural events like the gourmet festival, musical (jazz, blues, classical), art exhibitions and sporting events. Saturday and Sunday, the festival then continues on the beach of Cabarete. Besides the performances of famous musicians there are also several workshops for children and adults and demonstrations where interested people can participate.

We already wrote about it before, this year from 31 October to 3 November, the jazz festival will be held on the North Coast for the 17th time. In fact in Puerto Plata, Sos?a and Cabarete. Recently we received information from the organizing committee about the artists to be featured. They will welcome distinguished musical artists from across the globe, such as Bernie Williams, Rufus Reid, George Garzone, Billy Drummond, Marco Pignataro, Richie Flores and Horacio "El Negro" Hernandez sein. They also announced a minor change. In Sos?a the festival will not take place at the Parque Mirador, but at Hotel Casa Marina in the, for the festival very suitable, amphitheater.

The festival is held with the support of Dominican Ministry of Tourism and JetBlue, and local companies such as Millennium Resort & Spa, Sea Horse Ranch, Listin Diario, the municipal of Sos?a and Recycling Cibao.
