A young woman, newly married, was cooking a brisket. She took it out of the package, cut off the end and threw it away, and put the rest in the pan. Her husband, who was watching, asked her why she threw the end of the meat away. "I don't know." she replied. "My mother always did that."

Later she called her mother to ask her why she always threw away the end of the brisket. Her mother answered, "I don't know. My mother always did that."

The young woman was really curious now, so she decided to call her grandmother. "Bubba" she asked, "Why do you always throw away the end of the brisket?" To that her grandmother answered, "Because it is too big to fit in my pan."
