Designs for a second floor/story?

Does anyone already have some designs for building an addition on to an existing house for a second floor/story? We have one of those houses with the peaked roof line that we have to take into consideration, which will make things a little more difficult to design.

You're going to need an engineer before you do anything. He'll do some exploring to see what you currently have in the way of load-bearing capabilities. Then you can go from there. Anythings possible, but first you have to know what is in your walls.

i can direct you to my SIL, who is an architect and actually lives in costambar. she works with a team of people, including an engineer and various building site workers.
