Hello,

I live in Zona Colonial, walking distance from Duarte. I am taking my first trip to La Romana. I am using Lonely Planet. It mentions caliente/expreso at RD 125/160.

What is this service? Is it a guagua or bus? Please tell me where I can find this parada/station. I will be walking. I am low vision. If possible, please identify cross-streets and landmarks . . .

Thank you!

I believe the station for buses to La Romana start from Parque Enriquillo...(or right in the area)
..This is on Ave. Duarte, north of Ave. Mexico. (up the hill) and near the Plaza Lama store area.
The express buses don't stop a every corner or pick up people waving at the bus on the way. Just tell them to let you off at Juan Dolio but know where your going because there are two Juan Dolio's - the Old (lots of restaurants, bars, etc....) and New Juan Dolio - casino's all inclusives and high rise condo's. I prefer the Old Juan Dolio myself.

Thank you! Is New/Old Juan Dolio on the way to La Romana? Are we talking about a guagua or a bus to La Ramona?

Answer: Bus to La Ramona from S.D.

@ all --

Following your advice, today, I walked and found the bus to La Ramona:

If you are walking on Duarte towards Parque Enriquillo, you will find a cross street, Calle Ravelo, on the lower side of the park. On the left corner, you will find guaguas only, but if you walk (left) 20 or so meters you will find a bus station on the left with large buses.

Buses leave every 20 minutes to La Ramona. You can take Express for RD 190 or Caliente for RD 150. The latter has more stops. I don't know if "caliente" also means "no AC." Google Maps designates a station designated Control Ruta B. I don't know if this is the name of the bus station or not.

When I actually take this trip, I'll reptort back. Thank you.
