The Embassy Suites Santo Domingo by Hilton at the Silver Sun Gallery building at Tiradentes and Gustavo Mejia Ricart is promoting itself as being located in the tallest building in Santo Domingo. But that building really the tallest? Or is it the Caney residential high rise on Av. Anacaona? Any others?

Which is the tallest building in Santo Domingo?
Seems like the Silver Sun Gallery is ranked in the top 10, but there are many taller. The Torre Caney at 39 floors and 150 meters is the winner. Actually, The Torre Caney holds the title of the highest building in the Caribbean. Silver Sun building is listed as only 30 floors and 110 meters. Even Acropolis is taller, at 115 meters.
That Torre Caney is the one on Anacaona with the heliport up on top - if I'm not mistaken it's also the tallest building in the Caribbean.

I grew up in NYC but then moved to RI where there were maybe only two buildings with elevators in town, ditto Asheville where an elevator was rare... I love elevators. OK escalators are interesting but elevators are so NYC. I remember ones the skipped, like the first 50 floors! I was at Sambil yesterday and the elevators are glass, i could have ridden on it all day. OK wierd.. only three floors or so. but interesting. However, I do not think that I would like to actually LIVE above the 6th or 7th floor because I would not really trust an elevator here in the black outs. I am sure the plantas would run, but can the guy who runs the planta really find it in the dark?
Its not nonsense Torre caney is considered the tallest building in the Caribbean...unless Wikipedia lies that's what it says
