What do making love in a canoe and American beer have in common?

They're both fookin' close to water.

My personal favorite is Moosehead, from New Brunswick.

And of course, the draft beer they serve at Oktoberfests.

I have seen Corona in the DR.
Barahona is sort of the back of beyond, compared to other places in the DR, but I have seen Presidente, Bohemia, Brahma, and Budweiser there. I have not seen Quesqueya there, ever. I think it is more common around Santiago. Many a colmado sell only Presidente Lite.

Yes, seen it, just never seen anyone actually drink it besides Gringos.

Thus, Corona as numero uno is surprising to me, but the rest is funny.

Many Dominicans drink Coronas, if someone else is buying. LOL

Now why they like Miller Genuine Draft and think its smooth is beyond me.

Miller Genuine Draft is a very silly name for a beer that comes in a bottle.

It is just another rather watery American style beer, not better nor worse.

Better than Schlitz Lite, which was once the most awful of American beers

A possible reason might be that it is perceived to be an exotic import from the US. Sort of the 'Johnny Walker Black' of beers.

4.7% alcohol vs 5% for Presidente...not a lot of difference for a "kid's" beer.

They are not selling the beer or the alcohol, they are selling the "image".

You have to admire Stella Artois for packaging their beer in a "chalice can".

I would guess you're talking about Caribe beer. Not a very good substitute for Corona IMO. But I see tourists all over adding a lime to their clear boled beers..

I do not think lime ruins the taste of any beer.

lime and Corona is some fashion statement beverage, but that was not the intent. Mexicans rubbed the mouth of the beer bottles with lime to kill any germs that the myriad flies may have deposited when they landed on the beer. foreigners thought it was a taste additive, and started ordering Corona with lime. the Mexicans obliged.

I do not believe that is true.
In Mexico, Corona ads featured a bottle of Corona beside an inverted conical "schooner" type beer glass (not very common in Mexico at the time) with a disc of lime perched on the rim of the glass. This was on billboards all over Mexico. It had nothing to do with flies. This was in Mexico shortly after Corona was bought out by a company that became InBev, which it no longer belongs to.
