Today was the annual Santiago 10K marathon. Did any DR1ers went? Share the experience.

Hi...it is a 10K race & 5K walk...not a marathon. I actually did the 5K walk this morning, since I am still recovering from an injury...I plan on running the 10K next year if I am still in Santiago. According to the race officials this morning, there were 1,500 runners and 3,000 walkers.

It was a very good turnout and a decent race. They started the 10k late at about 8:30am instead of the scheduled 7:30am which made for a very hot/humid race. A number of people were taken to hospitals for heat-related issues but I have not heard of anything serious. I did ok but my wife and her friend smoked it! The hill up to the monument was brutal.
