We will be out for Dinner Saturday night. (La Briciola, Pura Tasca or Pat'e Palo, not sure yet which one). All three restaurants are at Plaza Espana.

Where would you park your car? Are there any guarded parking lots nearby?

Thank you for your input...

be warned that due to the collapse of whatever hotel in zona colonial the cars are now passing through plaza espana so there is a major gridlock there.

:(

Does that mean you can sit outside at the restaurants and watch traffic passing by? Crossing Plaza de Espana? :(

exactly that. the traffic is diverted around the plaza, not across so the cars pass directly in the front of pat'e palo (i recommend steak tartare there, delicious).

sit inside. it's cooler and more quiet plus the place looks really nice. make sure you send your wife the check the loo, very interesting placement of the toilet... ;)

there is a guarded parking place 30 meters from Plaza de Espa?a. I think it's 50 pesos. In the street right next to the restaurants they will also look after your car but ask for 200 pesos (to be paid in advance).

This is not because of the collapse of the hotel (which collapsed only a few weeks ago), the cars cross the plaza de espana since about half a year, for the work they are doing in several streets.

There is no such thing as guarded anything in Santo Domingo

wherever they can? use the valet service, driving in zona colonial sucks donkey's testicles. streets are very narrow and the cars are parked in whatever space available.

La Briciola is no where near Plaza Espana...it is on the corner of Merino and Padre Billini and because of the traffic that is now going through and destroying Plaz Espana it is by far the best choice of the three...it is a very good semi formal restaurant with a great atmosphere . Yes there are places you can park ,,there is the public car park on Jose Reyes just below Conde and the parking on the Calle Arzbisipo Noel is safe ..you will need to tip the guys 50 pesos or so.. but they have sharp eyes . Both these places are less than 5 minutes walk from la Briciola
