Hello, Im a dominican local, but it seems like some of you here know even more about the local cuisine offer than I do. So i just wanna ask, i know there's alot of sushi places in Sto Dgo, but I'm not sure if theres an actual japanese place where I can get my hands on some takoyaki balls here in the city.. Wanted to know if any of you knew about a place where they sell these!!

www.
I called the Supermercado Asiatico, on the western side of 27 de Febrero Avenue 513, near Av. Privada. They have a good stock of Japanese and Asian products. The person who answered said they did not have the balls, but the owner was not there to confirm. Suggest you call again and try to get to talk to the owner. If they do not stock them, she should know where to buy them.

Good video! Loved the pan he used. Are there no Japanese restaurants in DR? I thought that there was a Japanese community - but maybe not in SD? Was it Bonao area?

Did a quick search - they're around Constanza [the first link says there's a Japanese college in Santo Domingo????]:

Takoyaki is street food, not restaurant food. You get three or so on a bamboo skewer with some sauce on top and you walk and eat. Japan has great street food:

You could prob use the same kind of pan for making eggplant fritters...
