I am coming to Santo Domingo on October 12, which here in America is Columbus day.

When I last went to the Faro de Colome I remember hearing that they opened the tomb on Colombus day for viewing.

Is this still something that happens?
Are there any other events going on at the museum on that day?

Thanks
Carl

"Viewing What"????????
His bones are in Spain, the DR is just using the "Farro" as a tourist trap.

the problem with that is that DNA disagrees with the tour guides.

Thanks, from what I've read the DNA test in Spain was "Inconclusive" and the DR has not allowed any DNA tests to be done.

But we are getting afield from what I'm actually asking....

Do you know if they open the tomb on Columbus day?
Is there any other activity there on that date?

i have no idea when they open the place. i just wonder why they decline to have the remains DNA tested.

it is called dia de la raza here and apart from opening the tomb there is always a bunch of different activities all over DR. the details are usually announced in newspapers shortly before the celebration. i will keep an eye on any announcements for you and post details here.
