His joke translated by google:

LA VEGA. President Danilo Medina said yesterday that with the systematic efforts of the Government, making possible initiatives to solve the problem of the energy sector, the Dominican Republic is on track to end the blackouts.

Particularly he cited the time to come on the two coal plants being built in Punta Catalina, Peravia province, which will provide power generation system 700 megawatts. He argued that this contribution is significantly help establish all circuits of 24 hours required by the population.

"We recognize that all communities want 24 hours of light, and that is a demand that is coming to an end because, from the start-up of plants Punta Catalina, it will be solved," he said.

President Danilo Medina raised the issue during a surprise visit he made to producers Borough Sabana Rey section El Ranchito, La Vega, where authorized financing to parceleros rice, cassava, sweet potatoes and bananas.

Medina authorized funding project spanning three pumps. The producers also requested loans for 4,000 tasks they will be divided into 1,500 for banana, cassava 1,500 and 1,000 of sweet potato. The three pumps will be donated to associations to assume the credit will get.

Give me a break Danny Boy. You can't generate power reliably from any source when the people don't pay what it costs to generate it even if you have over capacity in the generation.

He should be talking about collections and jail time for those stealing power.

Is it two coal fired plants or is there now another ordered....in secret.

The story of these coal fired plants is beginning to confuse.

Today Diario Libre posts a story about the company who first got registered in 2013 to manufacture plastics getting the plant deal for 25 years..and supposedly the third plant back in April....but who now have had their contract cancelled.

Very confusing, very messy and perhaps riddled with questionable dealings and apparently some initiative too.

There is nothing neat, tidy and clean about any aspect of the electrical power situation in the DR. That is a result of the government being involved.
