Hello from NY but soon from Cabarete

Hello All,

Just purchased a beach lot between Sosua and Cabarete and will be building a house this year.
Quite exciting but definitively a scary choice ;-)

Targeting Q1 2017 to become a permanent resident.

Looking forward to learn from this forum but as well in the future to share any experience and tips.

Welcome! I live in Connecticut and have a house in Sosua. Great location you have especially if you like to surf...Encuentro is a great place. Good luck!

Best of luck, sounds like you got a PLAN...
I always thought If I was gonna buy down there I would buy the land first,, make sure that deed is all Kosher as they say, and only THEN proceed with Building a nices omewhat modest , but Dream Retirement Home..
but then those gated Communities up on the Hills look tempting as well.
Would sure love to hear your PROGRESS, STEP BY STEP.. with lots of Pictures, would be very Cool...

You mean laws in general? They are applied selectively in most cases, always best to
consult a lawyer with regards to purchasing property down here.
