Maybe I have been here too long but it looks quite normal to me for la rep dom. No one will complain and life will continue as usual.

It appears that they only did a half-arrss job as why did they not continue the pedestrian bridge over the road in the foreground? It ends at a median and as pointed out by the previous posters the base of the stairs are in the street. Guess the engineers only got paid half of the budget.

We seem to be assuming that the steps were built after the street was in place. It is possible that the street was widened after the steps were built.

The result is humorous, anyway.

This stroke of genius next to Agora Mall got a lot of attention a few months ago. They eventually sorted it out.

Perhaps they widened the road after the steps were build?

That was it and its obvious but when one wants to find faults, one shall find them...BTW, the side the steps are on, wasn't even a street in the past and I bet this is why the landing ended there.
