Default Barcelo Punta Cana to Basilica and Santo Domingo

Wondering if anyone knows how to get to the Basilica in Higuey and the Bavaro Expresso from the Barcelo Punta Cana hotel using public transportation.
Would also like to know at what time the local buses start and stop operating. Is it a long walk from the hotel to the bus stop or main road? Note that these
Are two separate trips. Thanks in advance for the help.

You're looking at a decent walk to the front gate of the resort, but from there you have to cross the street and catch the Guagua to Veron and change buses there to Higuey. The bus station in Higuey is a moderate walk to the Basilica. Same on the return ride. Wear comfortable shoes for sure.

Before attempting to reach Higuey by public transport, check if your hotel has an employee bus to HigŁey. They probably do, and may give you a ride to the Basilica. You may be able to get a ride back.
Maybe you can ask at reception. Normally such buses have multiple trips throughout the day in both directions.

I don't know about local PC buses, but it seems bavaro express (Friusa) is a moderate taxi ride to your hotel, perhaps US$20 or less. However, in the return trip it seems they could drop you off as close as the Riu complex which is a couple of kilometers from Barcelo Punta Cana (if you walk directly by the beach).

Thank you both for the advice.
