Greetings all. We are drawing close to retirement, and the Admiral is contemplating buying a villa in Punta Cana Village. We currently have a 2 bed / 2 bath condo unit in el Cortecito, but would like more room for visitors, along with some of the privacy afforded by stand alone villa.

We have pretty good general knowledge of the area, and and some basic familiarity with P.C.V., being a more or less self contained community, etc. We'd like to hear comments or info from present and past residents who have opinions or information they think worthwhile to share. We're interested in how it is to live there on a day to day basis, (we'll likely spend half the year there), the security ... especially when we're not there, community amenities, access to beaches, community issues, etc. One thing we've been told is that owning a car or other vehicle is a necessity.

We can skip the usual "rent first" advice, as valid as it is. We already own property on the island and know the advantages and disadvantages.

many thanks in advance.

You can send me a PM with specific questions - we've lived here for eight years and it has been positive on most counts.
The frustrations are minor - dog mess, barking dogs, abandoned shopping trolleys, kids driving golf carts - despite reasonable efforts of the administration these issues have persisted.
We have access to the beach at Playa Blanca, it is a walkable/cyclable distance of about 4km and there is a free shuttle there and back several times a day.
Another perk for Villagers is free entry + 4 guests to the Ojos Ind?genas reserve.
