Can our legal team please explain the new gun laws. Questions include:

What is the plan to remove existing fire arms from law abiding citizens?

How soon will law abiding citizens who currently have legal permits no longer be able to own a weapon?

What are the new additions to license restrictions, renewal fees, tests, etc?

What are the penalties for having an illegal weapon?

How does this affect people with perpetual shotgun licenses?

Any other important points to the new laws?

What I noticed about the new gun laws

As I read the story I see (or do not see) the following:

I do not see the new requirement for purchasing an annual insurance policy mentioned. What is this an annual insurance fee and how much is it on top of the already ridiculous requirements and fees?
Already people have to pay for a drug screening test, the ownership and carry fees, and an annual ballistics check that can only be done in Santo Domingo (the most ludicrous requirement of any law in this country).

I do not see the perpetual license of shotgun owners mentioned.

Inactive military and former police no longer get the automatic right to keep a firearm.
There used to be a scheme where the military/police could grant such licenses to their friends and family. Hopefully, that practice has been stopped as well.

An important change, people who want to apply for a new license, need to meet a new set of requirements. What are those requirements.

Please elaborate on what I noticed and make any corrections.
