SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic.- The Dominican Christian Alliance rejected on Monday the report of the Permanent Commission of Justice of the Chamber of Deputies because it continues to penalize abortion in cases of rape or incest and when there is a manifest infeasibility of the fetus.
Pedro Fernandez, spokesman for the entity that brings together Catholics, Baptists, Episcopalians, Evangelicals, Methodists and Pentecostals, said that the violations and incest occur under dehumanizing conditions for women.
Therefore, he says, they are contrary to God's purpose that all people have life, and life in abundance, as recorded in the Gospel of St. John in chapter 10. "Without doubt, women are included in that aspiration of Jesus of Nazareth".
"It is important to highlight that groups that proclaim themselves defenders of life, tend to despise the lives of women and only care about the life of the embryo and the fetus," he said.
