well.... they did ask them to send in the duration of stay information...

    That's progress of a sort !!

The response will be interesting !!

I really don't think it'll be a problem as long as the gov't doesn't step on its own feet

I don't think it'll be a problem either and I think the request is just for "show". And so far, it appears that only the consulate in Ottawa is requesting this info. Nothing mentioned about this on the UK consulate website(?).

remember - these are quasi legal statements that identify the 'legal' boundaries
    Which reamin at 60 days.

Maybe we should start a thread about 'tolerance' levels - what is accepted or can be had.

Guzman will tell you the same thing - by quoting the law

The practical side is the wild west

I would put it this way:

On a tourist card you can stay legally for up to 30 days.

If you stay up to 60 days, you are illegal after day 30, but they won't hold it against you and you just pay the exit fee.

If you stay over 60 days on a tourist card, you will still pay the appropriate exit fee, and you may have problems in the future trying to re-enter the DR.

That is how I see this unfolding, but we have to wait and see what really happens next.

Yup - I see it that way....

Typically Dominican - one step at a time - poorly coordinated

    227 now.

Just had a friend arrive from New Jersey. This topic of snowbirds in the DR is being discussed in the Jersey barrios populated by many Dominican migrants to the USA.

Waiting on more actual reports of what, if anything new, happens next.

    Over 17,000 views.

There seems to be interest or concern enough to justify it.

Seems to be a fluid situation currently
