Yes, Easy Jet reported some problems this year, they are loosing. Actually British Airways offers now low fares too, for example rt LON PAR LON is under 100 USD with all taxes, they don't have many restrictions as they used to have before, you can fly cheapest ticket 3 days in advance. But of course nothing is for free, BA will use new bonus programme, all discounted fares are only 25% eligible in miles for frequent flyer programmes. Lufthansa too declared war and they offer extremely low fares now. Swiss said that they are able to present even lower fares than those discounted carriers. Actually I don't understand how Ryanair is flying if they transport people charging 1 GBP for LON BRU for example, but they fly.

We all know that everything that is extremely cheap is not that good, it is better to buy good expensive thing than to buy discounted object and it will last few days only. Anyway, this is not aviation subject, but soon we'll see the reality, if cheap carriers will conquer the sky. I think that British Midland is the best discounted carrier, their fares a re not so cheap, they provide excellent service, fly from normal airports, not like Ryanair.

We all need discounted airline here in Dominicana, who dares to fly to NYC for 10 USD + taxes? :) (just a joke)
