Legal to import an oldtimer?

Duh on me! I have a 1952 MGTD and I should have got that!!

The ban is for imports older than 5 years. However, if the oldrtimer is an antique or unique in some way and has been certified as such, you may apply for a waiver. However, this must be done before shipping to the D.R. and may be very costly. Regards, PJT

Importing a car, old or new, is not recommended due to the cost and hassle involved. Anyone who has ever tried it says they will never do it again unless very well connected politically. IIRC vintage cars pay luxury taxes (selectivo al consumo) plus all other regular taxes. Expensive. Hope you have a truckload of money.
