Rx glasses in the DR

I was wondering, is it significantly cheaper to get Rx glasses (sunglasses) in the DR than the states? I have already used my insurance for glasses, but was looking at Rx sunglasses too, but was reluctant to pay $200+ (good frames and polarized lenses)...

I'll be in POP/Sosua.

ok, thanks. I recalled how cheap it was in Thailand and was hoping to find similar economics at work here.

I did what you were talking about just recently.

I purchased not one but three pairs in Puerto Plata the price was US $90 per pair, not a bargain and I didn't try to bargin the price down much. The Quality was the same as the US and while I had a prescription , I beleive you can just tell them your prescription and get the glasses made. The glasses are routed from Santa Domingo and take about 1 day to process, and they are very puctual with this.

If I have the number wrong you can look them up in the DR superpagers, they have an outlet in every major city in DR I am sure.

Think of it this way, it's like saveing 100$ off you airline ticket.
Well polorized lenses might be double, but you can call them.

My frames for example are LINEA ROMA linearoma.com.
