That is like a 50 minute speech.
Ideas: Independence: What you learn, nobody can take away from you.
Sociological necessity: No society can survive without saving and then expanding on what it knows.
Historical necessity: What we don't learn to avoid, we tend to repeat.

You could throw in economics. The average lifetime earnings of those with a college degree is greater than those without.
BTW what school is this being written for? It seems like a great effort for a persuavive paper exercise that will lack any substantial opposing viewpoints. I mean the best argument someone is likely to put up on the other side would be that a higher degree is not for everyone - which is true. However that's not really the same as being against a college degree. So you'll end up with a 5,000 word paper that proves a point no one was contesting.
