Don't be put off with my name. I am making fun of myself as I am not a little Don Juan.

I lived for several years in the RD as a university student and am familiar with the culture, mores, norms, etc, etc.

I became fluent in Spanish (thanks to my Colombian roomate)

I recall many an adventure with senoritas there.

I am happy to answer(try to) questions about this or other related issues.

The "customs" and "social norms"vary by region!

If you spent your time going to university in Santiago, you may not know much about Santo Domingo,or Puerto Plata. You do seem to be a VERY "Pompous ***" up till now though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I bet you are "English"Like someone is going to ask you a question about the DR:mad:

I am not sure how to respond to your eloquent remark

It was actually facetiousness ? cleverly disguised as eloquence. I am married to a former UTESA student, and I have a scar on my left cheek from calling her a chopo while we were both drunk. UTESA students will continue to pay the price for my disfigurement until the scar fades. (It?s a small one, and it is fading)

Not english just a simple person trying to survive. getting involved with egos and trying to outdo them is counter productive.

lets say i attended a private school in SD WITH NATIONAL STUDENTS AND OTHERS. THE KEYBOARD i have is crap and should be thrown out. doesn?t work too well.

so tell me about your philosophical pursuits in RD.

i never used the term chope very much. inepto, idiota, imbecil, cretino are more in tune with the spanish language

Don't go on too long about the spanish language on this board, they tend to lock posts that have nothing to do with the DR.

Don Juancito, I remember your name from another forum I visited. And as I remember, and your comment to "Colombian" tells me it's you, you had absolutely NOTHING good to say about D.R., and kept trying to convince everyone to the virtues of Colombian and Colombian women. I hope this will not be repeated here, because for the short time I have been on this message board, it will not be tolerated.

But if you have had a change of heart about Dominican Republic, then by all means share.

So I guess it was in this message board where you posted that piece of information. Sorry, thought it was somewhere else.

If this thread isn't about the DR it will soon be closed. Now welcome to DR1 Don. If you're interested in discussing Colombia and it's people then please look for a Colombian message board. We get off topic once in a while but this is DR1 and the discussions are about the Dominican Republic and if anyone wants to post a link that is DR related then it will be welcomed. Porn not included.

Thank you.

"proper Spanish" has as little to do with the DR as proper English, in that the locals would love to be able to speak and understand it, but they don't and most get along just fine that way.

Is funny, you started your thread talking about how you wanted to answer questions about your adventures with DR women and you keep going back to how great Colombians are. Why did you start the thread in the first place?

To Mr. Mike, how can talking about the Spanish language not be related to DR? He was referring to how they speak it in the DR and in another place. Although I dont agree with him, I also dont see why this thread would unrelated to talk about the language spoken in DR.

I was just hassling him, Talldrink.

I'm not a moderator, I don't lock threads, delete threads or anything else.

I am however a great (in my own mind at least) antagonist of Dominican Spanish and my comment was meant to be tongue in cheek, not taken seriously.

Just kind of venting about the way that my efforts to speak clear proper spanish have been met with blank stares here on the street untill I was able to repeat myself dropping random consonants and ends of words.
