depends on the situation. It could mean: 'to your health' or 'you're paying for the drinks'. :D

Was it in spanish or english? if it was in spanish, was it something like: "Bebiendo por ti"? because if it was, means you have earned his respect towards your person, supposedly :classic: if he really means it, then i think, by all means, you should feel flattered.

It can mean "drinking for you" which can mean that the person is drinking the beer or alcohol that you are not drinking and he/she is drinking it for you.
Example " you are not here with us so we will drink for you also".

Many meanings without context in which he said it

Could also mean that you are the reason he is drinking (more?).
ie., You left him, he misses you, you are not there so he drinks
for the two of you, he celebrates by drinking on your behalf, etc.
