I would just like to say that working with their media people has been a very pleasant and professional experience.

They certainly know their stuff when it comes to internet media and what it takes to do it right.

I'm just glad we've got more choices...
Did you know that the CEO of JetBlue has severe ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder). I saw an interview with him and found it to be very interesting. Anyhow, I will probably be flying them in a couple of weeks...I'll make sure to link from here, when I buy my ticket...good luck!

Zeus, did you purchase a round trip ticket? If so, do you mind telling us how much it cost?

Larry ( big AA fan but always looking for a good deal)

I just bought a JB ticket...STI-BUF-STI cost: US$531.00...tried all the others and JB was the cheapest I could find.

I wish JB went to Albany like it does Buffalo. I have no choice but to drive 2 hours to JFK :(.

I'm no Zeus, but I also purchased my round-trip on JetBlue for JFK-STI, Thurs. eve. (9:45pm) 7/1 to Wed. morning 7/7 (11:25am). Total cost after taxes $342. Cheapest prices listed for the holiday weekend. Great to have competition.

I will also post my experience with them as well.

Wishing for JetBlue MIA-STI

Wouldn't that be something, or is it too much to wish for? AA deserves some competition here.

Can someboby tell me how to get to sosua?

Taxi to bus station? How much?

I'll arrive in STI 10.25 AM

Compare that to AA: $1100 with overnight stay in miami on return trip!
Thank you X.

taxi and sosua........

Well, it should take no more than 400 Pesos to get to bus station...but they may try to scam you a few hundred pesos. No big deal. The bus is cheap. Look for a Taxi Monumento and tell him you know what the rate is. In his little taxi he will use about 100 pesos on gas and pocket 300. He should be happy with that. But from airport they may ask for 600 pesos. that is about 12 dollars. The bus will cost you about 2 or 3 dollars.

I took the JetBlue experience last Thursday, arriving back here in USA on Wed. I will probably never take American Airlines again.

I saw exactly where my $342 fare went, and JetBlue treated all like friends. There were no meals offered, just plenty of snacks. This kept the many children that flew on my flight at bay. As did the personalized TV monitors. It's a wonder what cartoons can do. And when the little rascals got very feisty, along came a flight attendent to show him/her around the entire plane, which calmed them down and offered all passengers a relief. Pleasant flight crew, albeit mostly men.

Ticket counters in JFK are in Terminal 6. Whole check-in process including security checkpoint took about 30 minutes (10 at the ticker counter, 20 in line). Purchased my $10 visa at check-in. Pretty painless during a holiday weekend. Flight was full, and took off 15 mins late, but we arrived 10 minutes early.

Cleared STI airport in 5 mins. Had a taxi waiting outside for me. Cost me RD$350-400 into Centro, including my final stop at Hotel Platino. I had called Servi-taxi (809-581-0000) ahead, and had them send someone for my flight.

Return flight was similar. On-time, no issues. Watched as people did the many bags thing without issue from the airport, so long as they did not exceed the posted number of check-in and carry-on luggage. It was quite interesting to see 18 bags being counted for the 6 person family, and with them allowing the mother of the den to carry these huge masks that weren't even counted.

I'll just say JetBlue is dealing with things nicely, and I have a feeling many more passengers were more than pleased by the service. The Airbus A-320 fleet is very nice for this length of travel. They are working out the DirecTV bugs now, in which the 4 movie channels do not really operate over international waters. There are 20+ other channels.

I'd definitely recommend flying them.

Tonelac24,

Some directv channels work? That sounds good, I have an upcoming flight with them! Hope people continue flying with them and hopefully they can get some better times for SDQ!

To be honest, I kinda enjoyed the late schedule on two fronts.

First, it doesn't interfere with a full work day for me. I can accomplish almost a full day of work, head to the airport and begin my vacation with a cuba libre 31,000 feet in the air.

Second, there's no congestion at the airports going and coming. I cleared the STI airport upon arrival in 5 minutes. It was that quick. Coming back, stood in the check-in line for about 20 mins. Cleared security in 10 mins.

Another thing, JB still has the $99 one-way fares, both ways. Availability depends on your schedule. It looks like the Labor Day weekend fares are at $99/$136/$156, depending on your schedule. Unless you know some other airline doing it for cheaper than that......

the thing is that not everyone likes it, passengers with children will not fly that late, it is uncomfortable to get in and out of airports

This is a completely false statement on your part.

I sat in the 5th row of the 9:45 p.m. flight. There were probably at least 15 children (1-5 years old) alone in the first 10 rows. It was like Romper Room.

Coming back, there were at least 15-20 children on the flight.

JetBlue accomodated the kids by keeping them busy with the cartoons on DirecTV. I'm pretty positive that the family folks will fly whatever time JB flys.

Remember most of the passengers are Dominicans. Comfortable? People who live in a country where power's a luxury.

I paid RD$1489 for a pretty decent room at Hotel Platino. It's set up sort of like a ranch-style (not really sure how to explain it), complete with large gazebo-like entrance. They had power when my other hotel did not. Guest-friendly. Clean decent-sized bedroom with separate room for dining and 1/2 kitchen. In-room safe, hot water, A/C, Cable TV. Pretty cool staff there. I'd definitely stay there again. 5 minutes from the monument, and the Diamante casino is 5 minutes away as well, if you're into that.

Hotel Aloha Sol has been renovated in the lobby and restaurant area. I've always thought highly of them and would stay there again. Same amenities as Platino, except more like your standard 3.5 star hotel here in the US. rooms normally cost me RD$1600/night, but they went up to RD$1699, I believe. It's located on Calle de Sol, surrounded by several universities. Walk back towards the McDonalds and you'll do damage to your neck, looking in all directions. Several 24hr ATMs within 2 blocks of you. Even though it's very dark around there at night, I have never had any problems walking the area in the dark there.

Both are great choices. Economical for us at $35-40USD/night, but expensive for the locals. Not sure if Platino has a restaurant on site. Aloha Sol does.

Hope that helps.
