Barnabe, we have our distribution warehouse in Pisano, just outside of Santiago. They changed to their own generators about 8 months ago and besides the normal problems of keeping generators going and maintenance and teething problems, touch wood, we've had uptime of about 98%.

Let this be a lesson to those of you wanting to go into free zones with your businesses - Choose your Zona Franca wisely!

Same here, my family's Free Zone company has had to rent a generator lately because the one they own has been undergoing repairs. This is the Santiago Free Zone, they've had the same blackouts as the rest of the country.

Every company in the free zones are experiencing prolongued blackouts and generator failures from overuse.

Even continous use generators are going down from "over-continuous" use! Just imagine the fuel that is being spent on keeping Dominican workers working because the Dominican government is so pi$$-poor stupid!!

One of the proposed solutions was an independent generation station for the Santiago Free Zone, but the gov't nixed that plan as anti-competitive for their CDE at the time.

If you have the capital, a nice 35 MW installation in the Santiago Free Zone would be much appreciated.
