This is one of the best annual events in the DR!

Once again the Dominican Republic Jazz Festival returns with big opening names like Grammy award winning Steve Khan tonight in Puerto Plata's Central Park, opened by cuban bass player Ram?n V?squez, Puerto Rican percussionist Paoli Mej?as and our own Puerto Plata Jazz ensemble, led by Sandy Gabriel. A block away from Parque Central is Casa de Cultura (a gorgeous Victorian structure you won't want to miss) featuring an opening of recent works from POP artists in lieu of the Jazz Festival. On Saturday night, enjoy the sultry flute sounds of 2000 Grammy winner Nestor Torres at Casa Marina in Sos?a, to be opened by Fell? Vega y la Orquesta de las Danzas Mezcladas, Guarionex Aquino and Chichi Peralta- all three percussionists, all three completely different in styles, ranges and instruments of choice- all homegrown in Dominican Republic. Enjoy the closing events on Sunday at Sea Horse Ranch with the heart melting vocals of Patricia Pereyra and the soul touching ivory piano player Oscar Micheli and his trio- at the Beach Club and Bosque with an art exhibit by Ricardo Toribio, an E. Le?n Jim?nez Biennal winner. Cost of Puerto Plata and Sea Horse Ranch events is free, Saturday night performance with Nestor Torres costs RD $300. Performances on Friday start at 8 pm, Saturday events start at 9 pm and Sunday opens earlier at 5 pm. Don't miss the biggest music event in Dominican Republic this weekend. Book a hotel in Puerto Plata, Sosua and Cabarete and get in on the jazz, afro-cuban, rock, blues, r and b!!!!!
