Hi, sorry to ask a lot of questions, I was told that from a free zone company you can import cars tax free (cars or whatever once is declared and approved), but is there any "fine print" ? I mean, maybe the car has a restricted use, or you cannot sell it, or something,

thanks in advance

tax free

the car must be a part of the company and for use strictly by it..

you cannot bring it thru the company and change your name right after ....

its the law ... but i think it has been broken more than one time

i read something like this on the newspapers

The only vehicles that can be imported by a Free Zone company that are not charged the import duty are vehicles to be used for employee transport, and they must have seating for a minimum of 12 (?) passengers, which excludes passenger cars, SUV's, etc.

The good news though is that a Free Zone company does not have to pay the 16% ITBIS on an automobile purchase, as long as the company owns the vehicle for at least 5 years. If the period of ownership is less than 5 years, the ITBIS must then be paid.

Suerte.
