I don?t want to be a buzz killer so don?t keep reading if you don?t want to know what?s going on here.
The first time I tried this it got me for real then looking at the pattern of symbols and that fact that they change every time you try made me think why?Well if you take any 2 digit number there and plug it into the equation they give you then you will always come out with one of just a few possible outcomes and all of them will have next to them the same symbol as the number 36 and that is also the symbol that will appear in the crystal ball.
Eg.
86 8 + 6 = 14 86 ? 14 = 72 Then cross check symbol for 72 with 36 and that is the symbol that will come up.
46 4 + 6 = 10 46 ? 10 = 36
55 5 + 5 = 10 55 ? 10 = 45
The magic numbers are 6 9 18 27 36 45 52 54 63 72 73 81 87 and 91.

Slight edit to your list of magic numbers. The possible solutions ("magic numbers") using the supplied formula are all multiples of 9.
