We need backup help for water delivery to a poor family.

The past four years PJT and Mrs. PJT along with the able help of a friend have been sharing deliveries of household water to friends, a family of seven, in the Bavaro area. Our helper friend has relocated away from the area and the PJT?s are now carrying the ball. We would really appreciate some help with this endeavor.

There is no running water at the family?s home on a main road, near an abandoned pit mine. The nearest water source is 1 km distant and usually requires a long hot walk in the sun, one 5 gal bucket per person at a time, and only available if the source owner allows them to draw water. Their landlord, for his own reasons, is not digging a well. He allows them the privilege to stay on his land to tend to his pigs. The family survives day-to-day by selling potable water and other sundries to the local natives. The father is a night watchman and they also do odd-jobs when the work is available.

Our water delivery schedule to them has been 50-60 gals or more every 4-5 days. We draw water from our own sources and use whatever vessel that is available to transport the water, 55 gal drum or 5 gal water bottles. The sense of urgency of this matter is when the PJT?s are away from the area there is no other reasonable resource for large quantities of water for this family. There is no free delivery service in the area.

We would like the assistance of a local who has willingness to help, the available time, and a pickup tuck (camioneta) or van. PJT can be reached by PM or email through DR1

PJT
