Similar to the Nextel thread, does anyone know if Virgin Mobile (USA) phones can be unlocked and activated in the DR. I know they operate on the same CDMA system as Verizon and Tricom, but I believe they are sold "locked".

I have done this with one of the Virgin Mobile Audiovox phones. It was more expensive than other phones I've activated (with Verizon) for some reason. Cost about $25 US at the shop across from the police station in Puerto Plata.
