Not that I'm aware of

I lived there most of my life.....and I don't ever remember there being a Dominican Parade. I know there is a festival for puerto-ricans and cubans, but haven't heard of any dominican ones.

David,
Maybe you can start one....the thing is that Dominicans are spread out throughout CA. My suggestion to you is to first tap into the community of Dominicans, develop a database, then start the events as a FESTIVAL in a park (similar to what the Colombians and Ecuadorians are doing out in Queens) and let it grow naturally from there. Chicago did that and it has been a great success despite the lower population count.

Great idea. There is hope for Dominicans in L.A. After all. I just finished having brunch with a Dominican/Italian Married couple, Luis and Monique. They found me on a post I had here in the Forum. I'm now on the way to meet another Dominican Woman in Downtown Los Angeles. ILonka, preparate mama que ya mismo voy pa' ya.

She has a lot of dominican friends and family here in L.A. I would love to host some sort of Dominicans in the Park day. Thanks for the fabulous suggestions. Like they say "If you build it, they will come."

I lived in Los Angeles for many years

& there was no Dominican parade. There is a Puerto Rican festival for "el dia de San Juan" around July every year. You will meet many Dominicans there!
In LA dominicans get along well with there similiars (Venezuelan, Cuban, Panamenos etc.)
There is a Park in Gardena (Alondra Park) where they play softball on Sundays. You can buy Dominican food & meet many people there.
I'm not sure if it still goes on but try and look it up. Club Social y Cultural Dominicano, Lawndale, CA. Sorry don't have their number anymore but I will ask around for you. They also have yearly mothers day parties & 27 de Febrero etc.

By the way just a couple of weeks ago I was flying back from Santaigo and met a girl on her way to LA. Dominican from Samana on her way back home to the San Fernando Valley. Her dad is Mexican & her mom Dominican.

Good luck

To all of you who are trying to meet some Dominicans in LA, I just got informed by the Dominican Club president that we will be celebrating 27 de Febrero @ the Hollywood Park Casino, February 25th, tickets are selling for $20.00, including the food and they will be having one of the best Dominican DJ in LA, Pedro el Sabroso. He was the DJ at this Downtown club called Grand Avenue for many years. He can really bring it down when it comes to music!! I'm very excited. Please feel free to contact me if you need any info igarcia@quislaw.com. I can't wait to meet some of you!!!
