I understand that this is a view point. Still, some Dominican Americans (morenos) DO identify themselves as black. Whether we agree or disagree about whether they are indeed black or not is irrelevant to this discussion. This is how THEY CHOOSE to identify themselves. I thought one of the main arguments of the "dominicans are not black" theory is that people should be able to identify themselves and not have identities FORCED upon them. Well, this is for the people identify as black hispanics.
Do you realize that ONLY IN AMERICA is there such a thing as Hispanics being a race?
When I was growing up there were only 3 races in the world...WHITE, BLACK AND ASIAN...
Now here in the US, with all the 'political correctness' and the EEOC and all this crap, they try to put people in 'categories' and mark them with 'races' which shouldn't exist...
For example, I'm sure you've filled out employment applications where they ask if you are: White, and they specify NOT OF HISPANIC DESCENT, Black, Hispanic, Indian...
WHY??? I am white...PERIOD...why do they make the difference if you are white but were born in a Latin country you should consider yourself HISPANIC?
And if you are black born in a Latin country you are also HISPANIC??? There is no such thing as the HISPANIC race!!!
They only do this to perpetuate the discrimination and the racism in the world! And then they say that they can't discriminate because of race, color, religion, etc... But they have to fill quotas at work that DEMAND that they hire at least ONE person of each race, as defined by them, and one woman, but if you get like my co-worker a BLACK, HISPANIC WOMAN...like I said...you kill 3 birds with one stone...
If you are indeed doing research, I hope one day we can see this as being the most DISCRIMINATORY thing in the world, and can do away with it forever...
Next time you fill out any kind of paper and they ask this, realize that it's not MANDATORY for you to answer...it's only VOLUNTARY...
I never mark anything when they ask...they can draw their own conclusions...
