I have a client that needs to host 4-8 servers in the DR. Are there any truly reliable, secure facilities? How much do they cost?

This is for a gaming operation so trust and reliability are a must. Please email me if you have any information.

Yes, some free zones have firms that offer hosting services, but at the end of the day their connectivity is supplied by Verizon, who have a very bad track record for reliability and uptime. That's aside from the issues of dealing with a NOC here in the DR.

Forget it!

Having reliabile access for a server is a comon problem for an online business in the DR. I am moving my business to the DR but leaving the servers in my apartment in NYC. This way we can do all the production in the DR at a fraction of the cost and upload everything to the servers. I know there will not be any power outtages in Manhattan and the price-to-speed access ratio is more favorable than what I would pay Verizon in the DR. Plus you can use UltraVNC to control the servers remotely from any location !

We will be running a Front End Web Server, a Document Server, a Secure Server, and a Collaboration Server ,which can be done reliably without a static ip if you want. You might want to consider such an option.

Good luck.

Gaming Operation and Servers

I think the original poster mentioned 'gaming operations'. It's illegal to host on line Casino, Sportsbook Etc- from the good ole US of A or Canada.
And I would certainly take/listen to Roberts Advise- forget it.
In a gaming operation you are going to require 99% up time- everyone I have talked to mentions the sporadic service from the DR. Someone went as far as to say- nobody hosts in the DR.
If your gaming license is through the DR, you might want to consider another Caribbean island like Panama or Antigua- tons of gamers host from there- or you cant go wrong with Costa Rica.

If you are just doing on line poker and people are playing for free you might be able to get away with hosting in USA- but when the Customer switches to pay mode, you dont want to be anywhere near the US.
