Is it possible to use a Power of Attorney in a Real Estate Closing?

For example, is it possible for one person with POA from several others to purchase RE in their name? The POA senerio could be as follows.

5 members of one group ( say different family members ) want to purchase 5 adjacent lots. They are spread across 4 states in the US and one member wants to to handle everything in one session at the closing.

Can this be done here in the RD ? Or does the buyer actually have to be here to sign the contract with the seller ?

Of course it can be done. However, a standard power-of-attorney won't do. It has to be in Spanish and authenticated at the nearest Dominican Consulate. The closing attorney should prepare the text and guide you through the mechanics.
