usually this past year JFK to STI non stop has run about $435 on average..plus or minus a little. with the exception of booking closer to the departure date than 3 weeks,( goes much higher) or during oct...which fell to as low as $256....
so I cashed in 30,000 miles to get amy ticket and they charged me $84.....hmmmm
usually the taxes are a regular $116...for both going and returning...so how does AA get away with only charging me $84.....which I assume is the taxes that would go along with a flight from JFK to STI.
makes one think aa might be charging too much for taxes usually????
does anyone know if I had picked a flight that normally might have cost a lot more than usual, would I still have only paid the same amount?
for example if I had been lucky enough to book one of the VERY FEW advantage seats available on a christmas time flight...would i still only been charged the same amount?
this is the first time I have used any miles I know I tried several times and they NEVER had seats available.........and i am not the kind of traveler who books a year in advance.....I have trouble booking more than 2 months in advance
