Hello I will be visiting the Dominican Republic for the first time in March and was wondering what the best means of currency is? Are Travelers Cheques accepted? Is U.S. cash okay? Thanks

i'd stick to cash and atm cards. inquire in your bank about the fees for withdrawal abroad. take at least two cards and do not forget the number to call and block them in case of the theft.

If you plan to ATM you should alert your bank of the time period that
you are going to be out of your home country and let them know
where you will be traveling so you don't run into any security holds -
same for credit cards.
I know traveler's checks seem a little old fashion in todays electronic
cash world - but have used them in the DR & all over the Caribbean
and never had a problem - and they have always been exchanged
at the same rate as cash (maybe I have just been lucky with the rate)
Most places will want to see your passport - I use a color copy of
mine so I can leave the real thing secure where I'm staying.

Have a great trip !!!
