Anyone know of a way to avoid flights that take 14 hours + from Richmond, VA and DC? The only flights I can find are about $400 and last about 16 - 24 hours. Anyone have any suggestions on a shorter flight for a better price from Richmond or DC to Santiago? I'm going there August 19 (between 8AM and 8PM) and leaving Dec 14). It seems like the only way to fly a shorter flight is to leave from NY, but if I drive to NY then it'll still take about 15 hours total for car and travel by flight.

Well I found something rather cheap with American Airlines for 371 leaving the same dates you specified and making one connection in MIA. The Total travel time is about 7 hours. Check Kayak.com or AA.com.
