Much has been written regarding birth certificate but at the other end of the spectrum of life a death certificate is also required. If an expat dies in the DR their heirs will need a notarized death certificate , what is the process?

When my father passed away 5 years ago I got the death certificate or certificado de defuncion from the doctor who attended him at the hospital.

If you are a US citizen, you should file for a Consular Death Certificate.
this will identify the person as a US citizen who has died abroad. It is needed for such things as inheritance and citizenship of heirs.

Thanksfor the info, Luis.

I was wondering about that myself. Now I can let my Executor know what to do....when.
