When it says to expect LONG power outages just how long is long ?

9 January 2008
EDENORTE announces power cuts
A press spokesperson for the electricity company, Edenorte, which supplies power to the north coast of the island, has announced long power cuts over the next few days.
The company supplies power to towns such as Sos?a, Cabarete, Montellano and Puerto Plata. The high voltage cables used to transport electricity need to be replaced in several areas. This sizable project will take a number of days to complete, and will be accompanied by long power cuts. However, once this renovation work is completed, the company hopes that the power will no longer be cut off after heavy storms or tropical rain showers.

Hey Mike,
Bear in mind that Sosua News, despite it's name is not a source of news.
It simply prints anything anyone tell them.
You could contact Lambada.
I believe she has a link for the scheduled outages in the area.
Do you not have a backup power system where you are?

The link below..........

Documento sin t?tulo (when updated, as you can see it has not been since the 4th) usually ONLY shows the scheduled power interruptions which ARE NOT due to work they perform or storms etc.....

I have never seen the type of interruptions mentioned in this post due to changing of cables etc. ever appearing on this list......

The Centro de Operaciones of Edenorte in Santiago says they are working on some outages due to the recent rains and storms but nothing out of the ordinary
and there are no scheduled interruptions; as of 5 p.m. today, per their engineer on duty.

A few weeks ago Cabarete was out of p[ower 2 or 3 days for about 8-12 hours each time as they were installing new cables and "turning on" the new substation. Power seems more consistent now, but still not great...
